Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ESAT6-CFP10 + TB-PPD refers to a diagnostic procedure or clinical trial intervention involving the co-administration of the recombinant ESAT6-CFP10 (EC) skin test allergen and the traditional tuberculin purified protein derivative (TB-PPD). The EC test is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of two *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*-specific antigens, ESAT-6 (Early Secretory Antigenic Target 6) and CFP-10 (Culture Filtrate Protein 10), which are encoded in the RD1 genomic region absent in BCG vaccine strains and most non-tuberculous mycobacteria. This allows for a more specific diagnosis of tuberculosis infection, including latent TB infection (LTBI), by eliciting a delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) skin reaction that is not confounded by prior BCG vaccination. Developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biologic Pharmacy, the EC test (also known as C-TST) has been approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an alternative to traditional skin tests and interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs).
