Recombinant Neisseria meningitidis group B NadA protein is a protein subunit vaccine antigen developed by GSK (originally by Novartis) for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease. NadA (Neisseria adhesin A) is a surface-exposed trimeric autotransporter adhesin that facilitates the attachment and invasion of *Neisseria meningitidis* into human respiratory epithelial cells. As a key component of the multicomponent meningococcal group B vaccine (Bexsero), this recombinant protein is expressed in *Escherichia coli* and induces the production of functional bactericidal antibodies. These antibodies provide protection by neutralizing the adhesin's function and promoting complement-mediated killing of the bacteria. It is specifically targeted at serogroup B strains that express the NadA protein, which is one of the most conserved and immunogenic surface proteins in pathogenic Neisseria.
