Recombinant Neisseria meningitidis group B NadA protein adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide is a specific antigenic component of the multicomponent meningococcal serogroup B vaccine, Bexsero (4CMenB). Developed by GSK (following the acquisition of Novartis Vaccines), this protein is a recombinant version of the Neisserial adhesin A (NadA), a surface-exposed trimeric autotransporter adhesin that plays a critical role in the adhesion and invasion of human epithelial cells by *Neisseria meningitidis*. In the vaccine formulation, the protein is adsorbed onto an aluminium hydroxide adjuvant to enhance its immunogenicity. Upon administration, it stimulates the production of specific bactericidal antibodies that target the NadA protein on the surface of the meningococcus, facilitating complement-mediated lysis and providing protection against invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroup B strains.
