Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A recombinant COVID-19 vaccine targeting the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5, using a type 5 adenovirus vector to deliver the spike protein antigen of the virus to induce immune responses. This non-replicating viral vector vaccine expresses the spike protein of the XBB.1.5 variant, aiming to stimulate broad-spectrum neutralizing antibodies and T cell responses against this highly immune-evasive and transmissible Omicron subvariant and related variants of concern[1][2][3]. The vaccine is designed to overcome immune resistance caused by mutations in receptor-binding domain regions of emerging variants[1]. It is developed as part of efforts for universal protection against evolving SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strains.
