recombinant protein + Advax refers to a vaccine platform developed by Vaxine that combines recombinant protein antigens with the proprietary Advax adjuvant. Advax is a non-inflammatory adjuvant derived from delta-inulin designed to enhance both humoral and cellular immune responses, specifically targeting Th1 and Th17 pathways which are critical for protection against intracellular pathogens. This platform is applied to several candidates in Vaxine's pipeline, most notably a tuberculosis vaccine (currently in IND-enabling studies) targeting Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens, and an Alzheimer's disease vaccine (in Phase 1) targeting amyloid and tau proteins. Other preclinical applications include vaccines for Shigellosis and Zika virus infection. The platform is intended to provide robust immunogenicity without the high reactogenicity often associated with traditional adjuvants.
