Recombinant serogroup B meningococcal vaccine is a protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Beijing Zhifei Lüzhu Biopharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products) for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B. Unlike vaccines for other meningococcal serogroups (A, C, W, and Y) that utilize capsular polysaccharides, serogroup B vaccines are based on recombinant proteins because the B-type polysaccharide is poorly immunogenic and shares structural similarities with human neural tissues. This specific vaccine is produced using a recombinant *Escherichia coli* expression system. As of 2023, it is undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation in China (e.g., trial CTR20231293) to assess safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy participants aged 3 months to 50 years.
