The recombinant serum albumin radiopharmaceutical is a diagnostic imaging agent under development by **Medi-Radiopharma** for lung disease imaging. By utilizing recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA) instead of traditional human-derived albumin, the agent eliminates the risks of viral or prion contamination associated with blood-derived products. Its primary application is in lung perfusion imaging, where the radiolabeled albumin particles are used to visualize blood flow within the pulmonary vasculature, aiding in the diagnosis of conditions such as pulmonary embolism. As of 2019, the developer completed a sterile lyophilized prototype kit, and the program remains in the preclinical stage.
