Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant SIRT1 (rSIRT1) is a recombinant protein version of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), an NAD+-dependent class III histone deacetylase that plays a key role in regulating cellular metabolism, epigenetic gene silencing, inflammation, and aging. By deacetylating histones and non-histone substrates such as p53, PGC-1α, and PCSK9, SIRT1 modulates pathways involved in mitochondrial biogenesis, oxidative stress, and lipid metabolism. In preclinical models, exogenous administration of recombinant SIRT1 has been shown to rescue cardiac function in metabolic cardiomyopathy, improve endothelial function, and reduce LDL-cholesterol levels and plaque progression in atherosclerosis. Recombinant SIRT1 is primarily utilized as a research-use-only (RUO) reagent for biochemical assays, high-throughput screening of SIRT1 modulators, and preclinical in vivo and in vitro studies.
