Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant SLIT2 peptide (or protein) is a recombinant version of the human Slit Guidance Ligand 2 (SLIT2) glycoprotein, a secreted extracellular matrix protein that plays a key role in axon guidance, cell migration, and angiogenesis. SLIT2 acts primarily by binding to Roundabout (ROBO) receptors, particularly ROBO1 and ROBO2. In oncology, SLIT2 has been shown to function as a context-dependent tumor suppressor. In acute myeloid leukemia (AML), SLIT2 expression is often downregulated, and treatment with recombinant SLIT2 peptide has been shown to exert cytostatic effects, inhibiting leukemic cell proliferation and delaying leukemogenesis in vivo. It has also been investigated in preclinical models of breast cancer, lung cancer, glioblastoma, and neonatal brain injuries such as germinal matrix hemorrhage and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy.
