Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The recombinant Tiantan vaccinia vector vaccine (rTV) is a replication-competent viral vector vaccine developed by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) in collaboration with the National Vaccine and Serum Institute. It is designed as a booster vaccine in a heterologous prime-boost regimen (following priming with an HIV DNA vaccine) for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. The vaccine utilizes the Tiantan strain of vaccinia virus (historically used as a smallpox vaccine in China) as a vector to express the Gag, Pol, and Env antigens of HIV-1 (specifically clades B'/C or CRF07_BC, such as the CN54 strain). It has been evaluated in Phase I and Phase II clinical trials in China, demonstrating a favorable safety profile and the ability to elicit robust HIV-specific cellular and humoral immune responses.
