Recombinant WNV-HCD86 is an investigational oncolytic immunotherapy consisting of a recombinant West Nile Virus (WNV) engineered to express the human costimulatory molecule CD86 (B7-2). Developed by Hubei Cancer Hospital, this agent is designed to selectively infect and lyse tumor cells (oncolysis) while simultaneously stimulating a systemic anti-tumor immune response. The expression of CD86 within the tumor microenvironment provides critical costimulatory signals to T-cells by binding to the CD28 receptor, potentially overcoming local immunosuppression and promoting the activation of tumor-specific lymphocytes. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials in China for the treatment of various advanced, refractory solid tumors, including laryngeal, lung, liver, breast, and colorectal cancers.
