Recombinant WT1 antigen-specific cancer immunotherapeutics are biologic drugs designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and attack cancers expressing the Wilms’ tumor 1 (WT1) protein. The therapy uses a recombinant form of the full-length or fragment of the human WT1 protein as an immunogen. By presenting multiple epitopes from the entire protein, these vaccines can induce both humoral and cellular immune responses—including CD4+ and CD8+ T cell activation—against tumor cells overexpressing WT1. This approach is not restricted by HLA type due to its broad epitope coverage. Clinical trials have shown that such vaccines can elicit specific immune responses in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other malignancies, leading to clinical benefits such as measurable residual disease clearance or prolonged remission in some cases[2][6][9]. The safety profile has been acceptable in early-phase studies.
