Recombivax HB

Recombivax HB is a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine indicated for the prevention of infection caused by all known subtypes of hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is a non-infectious, recombinant DNA vaccine that contains purified hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) produced in yeast cells. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce protective antibodies against HBsAg, thereby conferring immunity to hepatitis B. It does not contain any human blood or blood products and cannot transmit either hepatitis B or HIV. Approved for use in individuals of all ages—including newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and special populations such as dialysis patients—Recombivax HB has been available since 1986[1][2][3][4][5][7]. The primary indication is the prevention of hepatitis B infection and its complications such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
