RecoSeel

RecoSeel is a fully recombinant fibrin sealant being developed by Fibriant B.V. for use as a topical hemostat in surgical procedures to control mild-to-moderate bleeding. The product consists of two main components: a recombinant human fibrinogen variant and recombinant human thrombin. When applied to a surgical site, the thrombin component triggers the conversion of the fibrinogen variant into an insoluble fibrin matrix, mimicking the final step of the natural blood coagulation cascade to form a stable clot. Unlike traditional fibrin sealants derived from human plasma, RecoSeel's recombinant nature offers a more controlled manufacturing process, a reduced risk of viral or prion contamination, and a more consistent supply chain. It is designed for topical application during surgery to achieve rapid hemostasis.
