Overview

Recover L-PRP is an autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy developed by Zimmer Biomet for the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal conditions, specifically chronic plantar fasciitis. The therapy is produced using the Biomet Recover L-PRP Platelet Separation Kit or the GPS III system, which concentrates platelets and leukocytes from the patient's own blood through centrifugation. Once injected into the damaged plantar fascia, the concentrated platelets release a variety of growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β). These factors stimulate cellular processes such as angiogenesis, fibroblast proliferation, and collagen synthesis, facilitating the natural healing and repair of the fascia tissue. This biologic approach aims to address the underlying pathology of plantar fasciosis rather than providing the temporary anti-inflammatory relief associated with corticosteroid injections.
