Overview

Redasemtide is an investigational regeneration-inducing medicine under development for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke and other conditions involving tissue damage. It is being studied primarily in patients who are not eligible for standard revascularization therapies such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) or thrombectomy. Redasemtide is administered intravenously and aims to promote the regeneration of tissues damaged by injury or disease without using living cells. The exact mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated, but it is designed to maximize endogenous tissue repair and regeneration mechanisms. Redasemtide was originally developed by StemRIM and later in‑licensed by Shionogi, which is advancing its clinical development globally. In addition to acute ischemic stroke, redasemtide has received orphan drug designation for dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa and is also being investigated for chronic liver disease, knee osteoarthritis, and cardiomyopathy[1][3][4][5][6][7].
