Overview

The REDN-based hemangiosarcoma therapeutic vaccine is an investigational immunotherapy designed to treat canine hemangiosarcoma, a highly aggressive cancer of blood vessel cells. Developed by Calviri and based on research led by Prof Stephen Johnston at Arizona State University, the vaccine utilizes RNA error-derived neoantigens (REDNs)—tumor-specific antigens generated from errors in tumor RNA. These shared neoantigens are formulated into an "off-the-shelf" cancer vaccine that aims to stimulate the dog's immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. The approach allows for broad application across patients without the need for individualized vaccines. The primary indication is canine splenic or early-stage hemangiosarcoma, with ongoing clinical trials evaluating its safety and efficacy when used alongside standard care treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy[2][5][6].
