Drug intelligence / Profile preview
REDX12271 is a novel, potent, and selective orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of discoidin domain receptor 1 (DDR1) developed by Redx Pharma. It is designed to target DDR1, a collagen-activated receptor tyrosine kinase that is highly expressed in various fibrotic diseases. In preclinical models of chronic kidney disease, such as the unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) mouse model, REDX12271 demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic efficacy, as evidenced by the suppression of pro-fibrotic genes and reduction of alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and collagen deposition. While REDX12271 served as a key preclinical lead compound, Redx Pharma subsequently nominated RXC009 as the development candidate for its DDR1 inhibitor program in October 2023.
