Ree-Trakt

Ree-Trakt is a medicated gingival retraction cord used in restorative dentistry to facilitate accurate impressions by providing temporary displacement of the gingival margin and controlling local capillary bleeding. The cord is impregnated with epinephrine, a sympathomimetic amine that acts as a potent vasoconstrictor. Upon contact with the moist gingival tissues, epinephrine is released and stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors in the local vasculature, leading to localized vasoconstriction. This physiological response results in tissue shrinkage and hemostasis, creating a clear and dry operative field necessary for high-precision dental procedures such as crown and bridge preparations. Ree-Trakt is available in various thicknesses and is manufactured by Pascal International.
