Overview

RefluG is a combination medical device containing magnesium alginate, yeast beta-glucan (YBG), and coenzyme Q10, specifically formulated for the management of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The mechanism of action is multi-modal: magnesium alginate reacts with gastric acid to form a physical raft or barrier that floats on the stomach contents, mechanically preventing the reflux of acid and pepsin into the esophagus and upper airway. Yeast beta-glucan, a 1,3/1,6-polysaccharide, acts as an immunomodulator and mucosal protectant by binding to Dectin-1 receptors, thereby promoting tissue repair and strengthening the mucosal barrier. Coenzyme Q10 provides potent antioxidant activity, protecting the delicate laryngeal and esophageal tissues from oxidative stress and inflammation caused by chronic exposure to gastric enzymes. Originally developed by FB Health and now marketed by Neuraxpharm, RefluG is typically administered as an oral suspension to provide both immediate symptomatic relief and long-term mucosal healing.
