Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Refresh Endura is a preservative-free, topical ophthalmic lubricant developed by Allergan (now part of AbbVie). It is formulated as an oil-in-water emulsion containing the active ingredients glycerin (1%) and polysorbate 80 (1%). The product is designed to supplement and stabilize the tear film on the ocular surface, providing temporary relief from dry eye symptoms such as burning, irritation, and discomfort caused by dryness, wind, or sun exposure. A key feature of Refresh Endura is its inclusion of castor oil, which helps to supplement the lipid layer of the tear film, reducing tear evaporation. In clinical research, it has been utilized as an active comparator (lubricant control) in Phase 2 trials evaluating treatments for epiphora (excessive tearing) secondary to chemotherapy agents like docetaxel.
