Overview

REG-O3 is a 24-amino acid synthetic chimeric peptide being developed by Regulaxis for the treatment of osteoarthritis, specifically focusing on knee osteoarthritis (gonarthrosis). The drug is designed to act as a disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) by combining sequences derived from growth hormone (GH) and somatostatin (SST). The GH-derived portion is intended to stimulate cartilage repair and regeneration through the GH/IGF-1 pathway, while the somatostatin analog component provides anti-inflammatory properties to modulate the joint microenvironment. Formulated as a liposomal preparation for intra-articular injection into the synovial cavity, REG-O3 has demonstrated the ability to slow traumatic osteoarthritis progression and protect joint function in preclinical rat models. It has received the European Commission Seal of Excellence for its potential in treating gonarthrosis.
