Drug intelligence / Profile preview
REGEN-HEPS is a cell therapy product consisting of expanded primary human hepatocytes (PHHs) developed by Satellite Bio. It is part of the company's Satellite Adaptive Tissue (SAT) platform, which aims to create implantable bioengineered tissues to restore organ function. REGEN-HEPS is produced through a proprietary expansion protocol that allows for significant scaling (over 1,000-fold) of donor-derived hepatocytes while maintaining their mature phenotype and functional capacities, including albumin secretion and metabolic activity. In preclinical models of liver disease, REGEN-HEPS demonstrated robust engraftment and survival benefits comparable to primary human hepatocytes, addressing the critical shortage of functional liver cells for therapeutic use.
