The Regeneten Bioinductive Implant is a collagen-based scaffold designed to augment rotator cuff repairs and facilitate the healing of full-thickness and partial-thickness tendon tears. Developed by Rotation Medical and later acquired by Smith & Nephew, the implant is derived from highly purified bovine Achilles tendon collagen. It is delivered arthroscopically to the site of the injury, where it acts as a scaffold to stimulate the body's natural healing response, inducing the formation of new, well-aligned tendon-like tissue (a process known as bioinduction). This new tissue increases the overall thickness of the tendon and improves the quality of the repair, potentially reducing the rate of re-tears. The scaffold is gradually resorbed by the body over approximately six months, leaving behind a functional layer of native tissue.
