Regenfast is a biomimetic combination hydrogel composed of polynucleotides (PN) and hyaluronic acid (HA). Developed by the Italian company Mastelli, it is specifically designed for use in oral and periodontal surgery to enhance wound healing, support soft-tissue repair, and promote bone regeneration. The polynucleotide component, derived from DNA fragments, acts as a precursor for nucleic acid synthesis and is thought to stimulate fibroblast activity and cell migration through the activation of adenosine A2A receptors. The hyaluronic acid component provides a scaffold for tissue growth, modulates early inflammatory responses, and creates an optimal microenvironment for healing. Regenfast is used as an adjunctive treatment in various procedures, including alveolar ridge preservation, sinus floor elevation, the management of intra-bony periodontal defects, and the treatment of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ).
