Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Regidron is an oral rehydration therapy (ORT) product developed and marketed by Valenta Pharmaceuticals. It is a balanced mixture of electrolytes and glucose designed to restore fluid and electrolyte balance in patients suffering from dehydration, typically caused by acute diarrhea, vomiting, or excessive sweating. The formulation typically includes sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and sodium citrate, along with glucose. The glucose component is essential as it facilitates the active transport of sodium and water across the intestinal epithelium via the sodium-glucose cotransporter 1 (SGLT1) mechanism, which remains functional even during most diarrheal episodes. Regidron is provided as a powder for reconstitution into an oral solution and is widely used in Russia and CIS countries as a standard treatment for rehydration.
