REGN-2Cat is an experimental combination therapy consisting of two monoclonal antibodies, freneslerbart and mevonlerbart, developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. It is designed for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis and other allergic reactions caused by cat hair and dander. The therapy works by targeting and neutralizing Fel d 1, the primary allergen produced by cats (found in their saliva, skin, and fur). By binding to non-overlapping epitopes on the Fel d 1 protein, these antibodies prevent the allergen from cross-linking IgE on the surface of mast cells and basophils, thereby inhibiting the allergic cascade and reducing symptoms such as eye itching, redness, and tearing. REGN-2Cat is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety in both pediatric and adult populations.
