REGN107 (often cited as RGN107) is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals that targets and neutralizes myostatin, also known as growth differentiation factor 8 (GDF8). Myostatin is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily that acts as a potent negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass. By binding to and inhibiting GDF8, REGN107 aims to increase muscle mass and strength, making it a potential therapeutic candidate for conditions characterized by muscle wasting, such as sarcopenia, cancer cachexia, and various forms of muscle atrophy. The drug was evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and patients with muscle loss. Although REGN107 demonstrated the ability to increase muscle volume in early studies, Regeneron subsequently transitioned its development focus toward second-generation myostatin antibodies, such as trevogrumab (REGN1033), and combination therapies involving other muscle-regulating pathways.
