Overview

REGN1908-1909 is a combination of two fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibodies—REGN1908 and REGN1909—developed as a passive immunization strategy for the treatment of cat allergy. These antibodies bind with high affinity to distinct, non-overlapping epitopes on Fel d 1, the major cat allergen. By blocking Fel d 1 from binding to IgE on effector cells (mast cells and basophils), the drug prevents cross-linking of IgE-FcεRI complexes and subsequent cell degranulation that triggers allergic symptoms. Clinical studies have shown that a single dose can rapidly reduce clinical symptoms in cat-allergic individuals exposed to allergen challenge, with effects lasting up to approximately three months. The drug is being developed primarily for allergic conjunctivitis but has also been studied in allergic rhinitis and mild asthma related to cat allergy[1][2][3][4][5][6].
