Overview

REGN22530 is an experimental small interfering RNA (siRNA) developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with Alnylam Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and ocular hypertension. It targets the angiopoietin-like 7 (ANGPTL7) gene, which was identified through human genetics research as a key regulator of intraocular pressure (IOP). By utilizing RNA interference (RNAi) to silence ANGPTL7 expression in the eye, the drug aims to reduce the resistance to aqueous humor outflow, thereby lowering IOP. REGN22530 is administered via intravitreal injection and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in patients with elevated eye pressure.
