Overview

REGN5431 is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals that targets and antagonizes the natriuretic peptide receptor A (NPR-A), also known as natriuretic peptide receptor 1 (NPR1). NPR-A is a transmembrane receptor with intrinsic guanylyl cyclase activity that mediates the vasodilatory and diuretic effects of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP). In the context of sepsis, excessive release of these natriuretic peptides can lead to profound, life-threatening hypotension. REGN5431 is designed to block the binding of ANP and BNP to NPR-A, thereby inhibiting the downstream production of cyclic GMP and preventing pathological vasodilation. It is currently being investigated for the treatment of sepsis-induced hypotension.
