REGN9933 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed to prevent and treat blood clots by targeting Factor XI, a key protein in the coagulation cascade. By binding to and inhibiting Factor XI (specifically the A2 domain), REGN9933 aims to reduce thrombosis risk while minimizing bleeding complications compared to traditional anticoagulants. It is being studied primarily for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after elective, unilateral total knee arthroplasty, as well as for other conditions related to blood clots such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). The drug has demonstrated robust antithrombotic effects with a favorable safety profile in Phase II trials, showing non-inferiority to enoxaparin. A Phase III program is planned[1][2][4][5].
