Overview

Regramostim is a recombinant form of human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), a cytokine produced mainly by activated T cells and macrophages. It stimulates the proliferation, activation, and differentiation of macrophages and granulocytes as well as their progenitor cells. Regramostim acts as an immunological agent and hematopoietic stimulant by binding to the GM-CSF receptor (CSF2RA), promoting recovery of neutrophil counts in patients undergoing myelosuppressive therapy or bone marrow transplantation. Its primary clinical use is to reduce infection risk in patients with neutropenia due to chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant[1][2][5]. The drug is classified as a protein-based biologic therapy.
