Regrelor (INS50589) is an experimental small molecule antiplatelet drug that acts as a reversible, competitive antagonist of the purinergic P2Y12 receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor involved in ADP-induced platelet aggregation. Its mechanism of action is similar to other P2Y12 antagonists such as clopidogrel and ticagrelor, but unlike some others, its effects are reversible. Regrelor was developed for intravenous administration and investigated primarily for use in preventing thrombosis during cardiac surgery and coronary artery disease. Clinical trials were discontinued after phase II due to safety concerns related to adverse effects[1][4][5][7].
