Overview

Regtivex is an investigational, Treg-selective interleukin-2 (IL-2) therapy developed by researchers at the Medical University of Vienna. It is engineered as a mutein or fusion protein designed to selectively activate and expand regulatory T cells (Tregs) by preferentially targeting the high-affinity trimeric IL-2 receptor (composed of CD25, CD122, and CD132) over the dimeric receptor found on effector T cells and natural killer cells. This selective expansion of Tregs is intended to restore immune balance and induce immune tolerance, primarily to prevent organ rejection in kidney transplantation and to treat various autoimmune and immune-mediated diseases. By promoting Treg-mediated suppression, Regtivex aims to provide a more targeted therapeutic approach compared to conventional, non-specific immunosuppressants.
