Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rehmannia glutinosa oligosaccharide (RGO) is a natural oligosaccharide derived from the traditional Chinese medicine herb *Rehmannia glutinosa*. It is prepared through water extraction, decolorization, impurity removal, purification, and drying. RGO has demonstrated protective effects against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced intestinal inflammation and barrier injury, showing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It also exhibits hypoglycemic effects in hyperglycemic and diabetic models and promotes the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells into cardiomyocyte-like cells. Furthermore, RGO can enhance the viability and proliferative capacity of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells and alleviate H2O2-induced apoptosis, potentially by upregulating Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). Its mechanisms involve modulating gut microbiota composition, enhancing intestinal barrier-related proteins, and influencing various inflammatory and antioxidant markers.
