Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Reizhusten-Saft (Klosterfrau Reizhusten-Saft) is an over-the-counter oral syrup developed and marketed by MCM Klosterfrau for the treatment of dry, irritating coughs. The primary active ingredient is a specialized extract of Iceland moss (Cetraria islandica), which is rich in plant mucilages. Upon administration, these mucilages form a physical, soothing protective film over the irritated mucous membranes of the throat and pharynx. This demulcent effect moisturizes the airways, shields them from external irritants, and effectively reduces the cough reflex, allowing the irritated respiratory mucosa to regenerate.
