Overview

rejT-E01 is an investigational, off-the-shelf cell therapy consisting of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). It is specifically engineered to target Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antigens, such as the LMP2 protein, in patients who are HLA-A*2402 positive. Developed by researchers at Kyoto University with support from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), rejT-E01 is produced by regenerating T cells from iPSCs that were originally established from EBV-specific CTLs. This approach allows for the standardized, large-scale production of potent T cells that can be administered to patients with relapsed or refractory EBV-associated lymphoproliferative disorders (EBV-LPD), chronic active EBV disease (CAEBV), and EBV-associated lymphomas. The therapy aims to overcome the manufacturing challenges and variability associated with autologous or donor-derived T-cell products.
