Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rejuva is a novel, locally administered adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy platform in preclinical development by Fractyl Health. It is designed to enhance pancreatic islet function and represents an advance in incretin-based therapies by reprogramming metabolic hormone responses in pancreatic islet cells. The goal of Rejuva therapy is to drive durable weight loss and achieve long-term remission of type 2 diabetes through a one-time treatment. Mechanistically, the lead candidate (RJVA-001) acts as a Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) modulator delivered directly to the pancreas using proprietary delivery systems, resulting in tissue-restricted expression of therapeutic transgenes that alter metabolic hormone signaling[3][4][6].
