Relactagel

Relactagel is a vaginal gel developed by KoRa Healthcare for the treatment and prevention of bacterial vaginosis (BV). It is classified as a Class IIa medical device in the European Union and is also marketed as a Natural Health Product in Canada. The formulation contains two primary active components: lactic acid and glycogen. Lactic acid works by restoring and maintaining the physiological vaginal pH (3.8–4.5), which creates an environment unfavorable to the overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria associated with BV. Glycogen serves as a nutrient source for beneficial *Lactobacillus* species, supporting the restoration of a healthy vaginal microbiome. Relactagel is typically administered via pre-filled applicators for a 7-day treatment course to relieve symptoms such as abnormal discharge and odor, and it can be used periodically to prevent recurrence.
