Overview

Relmacabtagene autoleucel is an autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy. It is designed to target and bind to CD19-expressing tumor cells, inducing selective cytotoxicity in B-cell malignancies. The therapy involves collecting a patient's own T cells, genetically modifying them with a lentiviral vector encoding a CAR specific for the human CD19 antigen, and re-infusing them into the patient. This approach enables targeted immunologic destruction of malignant B cells. Developed initially by Juno Therapeutics and further advanced by JW Therapeutics for the Chinese market, it has been approved in China for adult patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma after two or more lines of systemic therapy and follicular lymphoma that is refractory or relapses within 24 months of second-line treatment[1][3][4][6].
