Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Relmapirazin** is a non-radioactive, non-iodinated fluorescent small-molecule tracer used with the MediBeacon Transdermal GFR System to measure glomerular filtration rate at the point of care. Following intravenous administration, it is designed to remain largely unbound to plasma proteins, undergo negligible metabolism and tubular secretion, and be cleared by glomerular filtration into urine. A skin-mounted optical sensor excites relmapirazin fluorescence and tracks its decline over time to derive transdermal GFR. Marketed as **Lumitrace**, it is an injectable diagnostic tracer rather than a treatment for chronic kidney disease or other renal disorders. MediBeacon developed the agent and system; Huadong Medicine partnered for development and commercialization in China.
