Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Reloxan is an over-the-counter medical device marketed by Schwabe for the rapid and sustained relief of heartburn, acid regurgitation, and acid-related stomach discomfort. It is formulated as a chewable tablet containing a combination of mineral antacids (calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate) and a highly concentrated plant-based protective substance (prickly pear cactus extract, *Opuntia ficus-indica*). The mineral components quickly neutralize excess stomach acid, while the polysaccharides from the prickly pear extract form a soothing, mucoadhesive protective film over the irritated esophageal and gastric mucosa to prevent further irritation.
