Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Relvar + Anoro refers to the concurrent use of two fixed-dose inhaled combination products: fluticasone furoate/vilanterol (Relvar Ellipta, also marketed as Breo or Revinty in some regions) and umeclidinium/vilanterol (Anoro Ellipta). Relvar Ellipta combines an inhaled corticosteroid, fluticasone furoate, with the long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) vilanterol to provide anti-inflammatory effects and long-acting bronchodilation, primarily for maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).[2][6] Anoro Ellipta combines the long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) umeclidinium with vilanterol to provide dual long-acting bronchodilation for maintenance treatment of COPD.[1][3][4][5][7][9] Used together off-label, Relvar + Anoro effectively delivers triple therapy (ICS/LABA/LAMA) via two Ellipta inhalers, targeting airway inflammation via corticosteroid-mediated glucocorticoid receptor activation, cholinergic bronchoconstriction via competitive antagonism of M3 muscarinic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, and sympathetic bronchodilation via selective beta2-adrenergic receptor agonism, with all active components originally developed by GSK (often in collaboration with Theravance for vilanterol/LABA–LAMA products).[1][2][3][4][6][7][8][9]
