Remergent is a brand of topical dermatological products primarily recognized for its DNA repair technology, which utilizes the enzyme **T4 endonuclease V (T4N5)**. Developed by AGI Dermatics, the T4N5 liposome lotion (clinically known as Dimericine) is designed to enhance the skin's natural nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway. The enzyme is encapsulated in pH-sensitive liposomes that facilitate its delivery into keratinocytes, where it specifically identifies and initiates the repair of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs)—the primary DNA lesions caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation. By repairing these dimers, the product aims to reduce the mutational burden that leads to skin carcinogenesis. The T4N5 formulation was extensively studied in Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials for the prevention of skin cancer in high-risk populations, such as patients with Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) and those with actinic keratosis. Following the acquisition of AGI Dermatics by Estée Lauder, the technology has been integrated into high-end cosmeceutical lines, though it remains a significant example of enzyme-based photoprotection.
