Overview

Remternetug is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Eli Lilly that targets pyroglutamylated amyloid beta-protein (Aβ), specifically the N3pG-Aβ epitope. It is designed as a second-generation immunotherapy for Alzheimer's disease, aiming to clear or prevent the accumulation of amyloid plaques in the brain—a hallmark of Alzheimer’s pathology. Remternetug is structurally and mechanistically similar to donanemab but has shown potentially faster and more robust amyloid clearance in early clinical studies. The drug can be administered via intravenous infusion or subcutaneous injection, with ongoing trials evaluating both routes for practicality and efficacy. Its primary indication is early-stage Alzheimer's disease, including prevention trials in genetically at-risk populations[3][4][5][8].
