Overview

Ren-Dong-Teng-Tang is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction primarily derived from the stems and vines of *Lonicera japonica* (honeysuckle). It is traditionally indicated for clearing heat, detoxifying the body, and dispelling wind-dampness, making it a standard treatment for inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, carbuncles, and various febrile diseases. The pharmacological profile of the formula is characterized by its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and antimicrobial activities, largely attributed to active constituents like chlorogenic acid, luteolin, and iridoid glycosides. These components work by inhibiting pro-inflammatory mediators, including TNF-α, IL-6, and COX-2, thereby modulating the immune response and reducing tissue damage in chronic inflammatory states.
