Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Renon is a radiopharmaceutical cold kit developed by Medi-Radiopharma for diagnostic renal imaging. The kit contains 10.0 mg of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) as the active ingredient. Upon reconstitution with sterile technetium-99m (99mTc) pertechnetate solution, it forms the 99mTc-DTPA complex (technetium Tc 99m pentetate). Administered via intravenous injection, it functions as a glomerular filtration agent that is cleared from the bloodstream by the kidneys via passive filtration. This allows for the visualization of the kidneys and urinary tract through sequential scintigraphy. It is indicated for multiple diagnostic applications, including the determination of glomerular filtration rate (GFR), evaluation of renal perfusion, assessment of renal artery stenosis, and monitoring of transplanted kidney function.
