RENOVAC is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by the Center for Advanced Technologies in Uzbekistan for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine is based on a dimeric receptor-binding domain (RBD) design, featuring a synthetic gene coding for a tandem RBD of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein linked by a glycine-serine (GS) linker. This construct is expressed in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells and purified to create the active ingredient. RENOVAC is specifically designed to target the ACE2 binding site of the spike protein, eliciting neutralizing antibodies that block the virus from entering host cells. As of the latest reports, the vaccine has completed preclinical toxicity and immunogenicity studies in animal models, demonstrating a robust immune response.
