Overview
Renqing Changjue is a prominent traditional Tibetan medicine (TTM) classified as a "precious pill" (Rinchen Tselwa). It is a complex, multi-ingredient formulation comprising over 140 components, including processed minerals, metals (such as gold, silver, and copper), and numerous medicinal herbs like saffron and sandalwood. A key component is "Tsothel," a specially processed mercury sulfide preparation. Traditionally, it is used for a wide spectrum of ailments including gastrointestinal disorders, chronic inflammation, poisoning, and as a general health tonic. Modern clinical research, including studies registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, has begun to investigate its potential in treating metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, specifically focusing on its immunomodulatory effects and ability to regulate inflammatory cytokines.
